Girl Scout Week

On March 12, 1912, Juliette Gordon Low and two other women held the first Girl Scout troop meeting in the United States. From 18 girls in attendance at the first meeting, Girl Scouts has grown to over 3.8 million members, with over 50 million alumni. These girls and women share the aspiration to make the world a better place through their courage, confidence and character. In 2003, the U.S. Senate officially recognized the organization?s birthday week as National Girl Scout Week. During this celebration, Girl Scouts across the nation renew their commitment to helping every girl have the opportunity to strengthen herself and achieve her potential.
