ePromos is available to help you support Mental Illness Awareness Week. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) started this week in 1979, and it was officially adopted by Congress in 1990. Usually held in of the first two weeks in October, Mental Illness Awareness Week seeks to inform the public about severe mental illnesses, such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and major depression. For example, did you know that 5-8% of the adult population in the United States will suffer from depression? That is a lot of people! This week furthers NAMI's overall mission - to provide accurate information, inform people of current public policy issues, and reduce the stigma given to individuals diagnosed with mental illnesses.
