| This month help evade alcohol related accidents by learning how to prevent drunk and drugged driving. Every year peoples' lives are greatly affected by someone driving under the influence. Over the years groups, such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), have surfaced in order to help educate teens and their parents on how to prevent fatalities due to drunk and/or drugged driving. Even having one drink can impair your ability to drive a car and potentially put you and your passenger(s) as well as other vehicles in danger. Designating a sober driver is the best way to ensure a safe ride home. Under no circumstances should you ever get in the car after you have been drinking or taking narcotics. Even drugs prescribed to you by your doctor can affect your judgment while driving.

Prevention of driving under the influence starts first with educating new drivers. Teachers and driving school instructors should inform their students about the dangers of driving while drunk through promotional posters and pamphlets. Families that have lost someone due to drunk driving can show their support for the cause by wearing awareness bracelets and putting bumper stickers on their cars. Law enforcement officials can remember to be on alert for suspicious driving through promotional memo boards throughout their precinct.
