November 25th is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, an awareness day decreed by the United Nations resolution in 1999. The day strives to bring to light the issues women face in every corner of the globe and to raise public awareness on the problem. Because violence against women occurs in every country and culture, The United Nations Development Fund for Women considers it one of the most pervasive human rights violations we know today– making it especially important to raise awareness about this day.
