Challenge: A pizza shop wants to increase sales during the last month of summer.
While brainstorming ideas for getting the most out of summer sales, a pizza shop decided to distribute a promotional product of some sort to encourage customers to return. The item needed to be small enough to hand out over the counter, inexpensive and memorable.
Solution: “Mood” Pencils are handed out to every customer the month before school starts.
The pizza shop decided to tie their promotion in with “back to school” preparations. “Mood” pencils, which come in a variety of color options and change with the temperature of the user’s hand, were ordered and imprinted with the company’s logo. The month before neighborhood schools started in the fall, the pizza parlor started giving away a pencil to every customer.
Result: The pizza shop notices an increase of sales and customers returning frequently.
After the “back to school” promotion kicked off, the shop noticed that customers with children began returning to the shop regularly because their kids wanted to collect all available colors of the mood pencil. Parents also appreciated the color-changing pencils which made kids more excited about going back to school to use their “cool new pencils.” The promotion sparked customer loyalty and a surge in revenue and the company hopes to repeat the promotion several times throughout the year.
