Challenge: To Find a Useful Promotional Gift Suitable for a Non-Profit’s Annual Meeting
Tucked away in Northern Indiana—in the city of Warsaw, county of Kosciusko—is the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, a non-profit organization connecting volunteers and donors with charitable projects and organizations to positively impact the lives of local people in need. Although a small county, being home to just under 75,000, Kosciusko’s needs are big: in a recent year the Foundation donated more than $1 million for charitable purposes. To make that kind of impact on the community, the Foundation team regularly interacts with various stakeholders including social and other non-profit organizations, governmental and public agencies, professional planners who help wealthy donors determine how to give and to whom, and individual members of the community who both give and receive help. Such a task requires a focused strategy of communications and outreach—a strategy in which promotional giveaway products often play a large part.
Case in point: the Foundation’s annual meeting, its largest event of the year, bringing together nearly 200 major stakeholders for an evening of fellowship, awards, recognition, and appeals. Working with ePromos Promotions Specialist Nicole Shebloski, the Foundation team soon found just the right product to bear the Foundation’s name: Clip-on, Fold-up Tote Bags in an appealing blue. Based on attendance at last year’s event, the team initially ordered 120 bags. But response was so great that they had to order more bags in a hurry—70 more ought to do it, they thought. Nicole was pleased to accommodate, so the team received all of their bags well in advance of the event.
And recipients loved them! The Foundation team tells us that several stakeholders quipped, “Oh, I see you’re going green … I mean blue!” Several recipients even asked for additional bags for their spouses, making the team doubly glad they ordered more. The team also tells us that the bags helped them achieve their goal of spreading the Foundation message and name as several recipients said they’d use their new totes for shopping.
