| Challenge: Raise funds for AIDS research with help from local restaurants A non-profit AIDS organization in Houston wanted to team up with restaurants in their area to promote their AIDS awareness campaign. They needed to find a way to effectively deliver their message so that it would leave a lasting impression on potential donors. Solution: Distribute crystal boxes to encourage participation At a press conference and kickoff event, managers were given imprinted crystal boxes to place on tables in their restaurant. Engraved with red the AIDS ribbon symbol, a message on the base of the boxes notified diners that 10% of their check that night would be donated to local and national AIDS foundations. A window decal identifying participating restaurants was also issued. Result: Promotion was a huge success! While the goal for the promotion was to enroll just 50 restaurants, initial responses resulted in a sign-up of 65! More than $45,000 in revenues was raised for the AIDS organizations. Both the AIDS foundation and the restaurants benefited from the campaign, as customers were willing to order more knowing that a percentage of their bill was going to charity. |
