Challenge: How to increase tournament participation in a company-sponsored golf event.
A large company sponsored an annual golf tournament that attracted golfers from throughout the state. In the past three years, however, tournament participation had declined. The company wanted to continue to host the golf tournament; nevertheless they needed to increase participation.
Solution: A large scale promotional campaign, complete with crystal golf awards, is chosen to revive the tournament.
For the company’s 10 year anniversary, the company designed a new logo to symbolize the first decade of success, and to establish a broad corporate identity. To raise awareness and gain interest from customers, vendors, and the public, the company publicized the golf tournament well in advance using public relations, advertising, and marketing tactics.
To commemorate the annual golf tournament, the company decided to reward the golf tournament winners with a unique golf award. The company chose the attractive crystal plaque to reward the winners of the golf tournament. The plaque was chosen because the crystal award design can feature any golf course layout, and be personalized with colorfill.
Result: The new company logo and 10 year anniversary publicity created an enormous buzz! Consequently, tournament participation rose 15 percent!
Additionally, the participants were “Wowed” by the uniqueness of the crystal plaque. Company executives received several calls from the participants thanking them for choosing such a gorgeous, high quality award.
