Strategic Selection of Promotional Products Announce New Web Address for Chic Student Apartment Communities by Campus Habitat

To get word to students at neighboring universities—and to drive prospective tenants to their new Web site—the Campus Habitat team, already armed with a supply of key-chains and other small gifts, turned to ePromos for help in building a reserve of strategic, website-driving promotional products. And while the team knew in advance which promotional tools they wanted, ePromos Promotions Specialist Kristan Bullard led them to specific products that fit their budget.

On the team’s promotional agenda:

  • The Retractable Comfort Grip Pen, available in four translucent colors, with a clear clip and accents and a comfort rubber grip. The team chose pens imprinted with the Campus Habitat Web address because students need and want them—and because pens are easy to carry and to give to large numbers of students.
  • The Clip-and-Go Carabiner Key Holder, laser-engraved with the Campus Habitat site, with a gate-style latch for easy attaching to duffel bags, book bags, belt loops and purse straps. Carabiners, like pens, are also easy to transport, easy to give and desirable to students.
  • One-ounce Hand Sanitizer branded the Campus Habitat way, small enough to fit in students’ book bags, pockets and purses. The team selected hand sanitizers because a little goes a long way—thus maximizing brand and web address exposure. Plus, although most students typically don’t buy hand sanitizer for themselves, most do like to carry it with them.
  • The 15 x 18-inch Drawstring Backpack, in black, with the Campus Habitat web address emblazoned on one side. This all-purpose, mid-weight drawstring backpack with a large main compartment can be carried over the shoulder. Since they’re perfect for the beach, for the gym, for school and for work, students love them—thus so do teams that want to reach students!
  • The 36-inch Telescoping, Folding, Automatic Umbrella, also in black, also emblazoned with the Campus Habitat web address. This 36-inch umbrella folds down to a neat 15-inches, making it easy for students to carry them along in their book bags and backpacks.
  • Two-Color Custom Playing Cards come standard in bridge size; poker size is available for an additional fee. The team liked the idea of playing cards with their web address on the reverse because every home needs a deck of cards, and students within the Campus Habitat communities often meet for poker and casual card games.

Result: Branded drawstring backpacks, pens, playing cards and hand sanitizer win most student votes.

The team, pleased with their new promotional tools, first delivered them among student tenants who cheerfully help spread the word about Campus Habitat. The team then surveyed those students to see which products they liked best. In first place, as we expected, were the branded drawstring bags. The team tells us that the bags are a favorite; they regularly see students wearing their bags both on and off property. Following closely behind were the Campus Habitat-branded pens and playing cards, both of which tied for second place. The logoed hand sanitizer won third place, with carabiners not far behind. An “A” lineup in all!
