A telecommunications company wanted to increase awareness of their new services, especially their 800 customer service number. The company also felt that their old newspaper ads had become dated, and they wanted a fresh approach.
Solution: A New Type Of Newspaper Ad
The telecommunications company decided to implement a new advertising approach. Using the local daily newspaper to gain important visibility, a 3×5 sticky note was placed on the front page of the newspaper. The sticky note had a two color imprint, and directed readers to the client’s ad in the first section of the newspaper. The sticky note also contained important contact information. This was the first time the company or newspaper had done an advertisement of this nature, and guidelines had to be negotiated with the paper and the local carriers who applied the notes.
Result: A Huge Success
Phone calls to the company increased 300 percent. The company’s stores increased sales by 50 percent as well. The advertisements were deemed a success, and a survey concurred with results by showing that customers saved the sticky notes for future reference. The company couldn’t have been happier, and they looked forward to doing innovative promotions in the future.
