There are a number of excellent reasons to add promotional items to your marketing plan. There are studies that show a clear relationship between promotional efforts and increased business. Promotional items can attract new customers and establish name recognition. There are thousands of items available to use to improve relations with clients or motivate a sales staff. Bottom line is that people enjoy getting something for nothing, and are much more likely to remember a business name when on a free and often used item. Playing cards are one item in that arsenal. Playing cards are the perfect give away item for many companies that deal in games and play equipment and are especially appropriate if there is an actual link between the cards and the business. A company that makes poker and bridge tables and furniture might use playing cards to spread their message or company name. Playing cards might be the perfect item for a company that promotes travel, such as arranged tours and trips or even a company that deals in camping equipment.
Playing cards come in a variety of styles and options. There are choices to be made in materials first. Playing cards are made of paper or plastic. Plastic lasts longer and can be easier to handle and is less likely to suffer from bent corners. Paper stock is a traditional material and many people prefer the feel of paper. There are many differences in the paper stock and many sources for that paper. Another choice is the type of playing card. There are bridge cards and poker cards. Bridge cards are narrower than poker cards by about a quarter of an inch, and are often sold in two pack sets. Other than size there is no real difference between bridge and poker cards. A company can even create it’s own type of card, perhaps bearing no resemblance to bridge or poker playing cards.
Whichever material and size is chosen there are many design options to be considered as well. A deck of playing cards has a front and a back. The back of the card is the common side, where the design remains the same on the entire set. A company might put its logo or name on the back of the card and all 54 cards will be identical. The front or face of the card is the “play” side of the card. This side can be customized in various ways. Often only the joker is customized but it is very possible to customize all of the card faces. Personalized playing cards are an unusual and unique format for advertising, promotional giveaways or even for party favors.
