Conference Giveaways and Promotional Gifts |

|
Often no distinction is made conference giveaways and gifts and trade show giveaways, but conferences really aren't the same as trade shows, so it doesn't makes sense to assume that conference giveaways would be the same, either. In this conference giveaway guide, we'll review the primary considerations for selecting and imprinting products for conference giveaways or gifts.

Get Ready to Take Some Notes: Pens, Padfolios and Jotters
While the typical trade show attendee spends most of their time traveling the show floor from booth to booth, conference attendees are more likely to spend their time attending lectures or group discussions. So, while a pen and pad may not be that essential at a trade show, they're going to be the most useful promotional giveaways at any conference. Promotional jotters are useful because they're small and easy to hold on the go, but if your attendees are going to be taking lots of notes and saving handouts, a full size promotional padfolio is probably the ideal conference gift.
Something to Drink: Mugs and Water Bottles
Again, since most trade show attendees are typically on the go and already lugging around tons of brochures and catalogs, I wouldn't recommend promotional mugs or water bottles for most trade show exhibitors. By contrast, these are great conference gift items because the attendees are less mobile. Depending on the venue, spill proof travel mugs and water bottles are often the best choices. In addition to being a useful gift and memento for attendees, these items can also cut down on accidental spillage. If attendees will be seated in the same place throughout the day, ceramic coffee mugs may be a good alternative.
Tote Bags
Here's one promotional product that works great for both trade shows and conferences. While conference attendees may not be on the go as much, or picking up as many different brochures and materials, it's always handy to have a promotional tote bag to store conference materials. Moreover, imprinted tote bags are also a great way to distribute materials at the beginning of a conference.
Apparel, Badges and Lanyards
Again, these items are often used as trade show promos, but they can be useful, perhaps even more useful at conferences. Since many conferences are organized around a profession, organization, interest group or other community, t-shirts and other apparel are often highly appreciated by attendees who consider the community part of their identity. Apparel, as well as badges and lanyards, also increase the sense of community at the conference, identify participants and encourage attendees to interact with each other.
