ePromos Promotional Products, Inc., a leading online distributor of custom logo merchandise, has awarded $500 worth of promotional products to the Hastings Public Library.

The Hastings Public Library is an essential part of the Hasting’s community, the entire Adams County and its surrounding area. The library is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Hastings, giving access to the 31,000 people for whom the library serves.

It is recognized as a community resource for education, learning and literacy, the general public’s creative and innovate gathering place and a cornerstone of life in Hastings and surrounding areas. The library respects individual perspectives, honors diversity and upholds the right to privacy and confidentiality.

The Hastings Public Library mission statement is “To enhance the quality of life for our community by providing personalized, open access to the world of information and ideas.” The library provides free services such as story times to foster language development and encourage early literacy, quiet study and work areas for students and professionals, and book clubs to encourage appreciation of literature in adults.

In addition to shelves full of books, computers and reference collections there are three really cool extensions of the library:

• Bookmobile
The Hastings Public Library Bookmobile provides outreach services to the Hastings and Adams County community. Scheduled stops include schools, daycare centers, retirement communities, neighborhoods and even home delivery. The library is dedicated to providing everyone with access to books, audiobooks, and DVDs, even community members unable to physically visit the library.

• Makerspace Technology Workspace
The Hastings Public Library Makerspace is the technology workspace of the library created to give access to tools and technology that most people cannot afford. Technology includes a laser cutter, 3D printer, soundboard, and Green Screen/Camera/Video Editing Computer. Plus, there is the duo of Sewing Machines available to sew, embroider, and serge for great quality down to the very last stitch.

• Digital Library
Everyone also has access to the library’s digital collection, an online database of books and other digital media formats. Patrons are able to discover history, culture, and captivating stories that will create lifelong learners. They can also browse the immense digital selection – all through a single portal accessed via a library or home computer.

Winning the “ePromos for Good” gift including $500 worth of promotional products comes at a very good time for the library. They are in the midst of a $5.6 million renewal – completely gutting the existing building and rebuilding a new, modern library for Hastings and Adams County.

We talked with Morgan Karel about winning the promotional products. She said, “We run three Summer Reading Programs: Children, Teens and Adult. We will likely use our winnings to purchase summer reading incentives and prizes.”

“We also have a monthly Pub Quiz and distribute promotional items to the participating teams. And, we collaborate with area non-profit organizations and have storytime and the book mobile at their events. We may distribute promotional items at community events such as Springfest, Back-to-School Bash, National Night Out, Farmer’s Markets and others as well.”

Promotional products may also be used to honor volunteers, as they are true friends to the Hastings Public Library. They are committed to helping the library, through advocacy, fundraising and volunteerism to meet the needs and expectations of the community the library serves.

Morgan said she was already shopping at ePromos website when she saw the ad promoting ePromos for Good. Journals, notebooks, writing utensils, headphones, bags and stress balls are a few of the promotional products Morgan was interested in for the library. We can’t wait to see what the library picks to market their place of learning!
